HOW TO DO ?

12 Jyotirlinga Yatra Itinerary


This is a 16 day pilgrimage tour starting from New Delhi.
  • Day 1: The Yatra starts in New Delhi. Pilgrims are taken by a bus to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This takes about 8 hours by bus. After Darshan, overnight stay would be preferable at Varanasi.
  • Day 2: A start from Varanasi to Kedarnath by bus would help you reach the temple by evening. At night, embark on a bus journey to Deogarh, Bihar.
  • Day 3: Reach Deogarh Vaijanath Temple. After Darshan, catch a train to reach Bhopal by night. Overnight stay would be preferable at Bhopal.
  • Day 4: Bus ride to Mammaleshwaram Omkar Temple. And from there a 3-hour journey to Ujjain Mahakaleshwar Temple with an overnight stay at Ujjain.
  • Day 5: An early morning train to Ahmadabad would reach the place by evening. Overnight stay would be at Ahmadabad.
  • Day 6: Bus ride to Somanth Temple. After Darshan head back to Ahmadabad. Overnight stay would be at Ahmadabad.
  • Day 7: Catch a train to Pune where an overnight stay is advisable.
  • Day 8: Bus ride to Dharukavana Nageshwar Temple. After Darshan, head to Ghurmeshwar temple at Ellora. Then visit to Ellora Caves. Overnight stay would be at Ellora.
  • Day 9: Take a bus to Nashik, which would take 6 hours. Overnight stay would be at Nashik.
  • Day 10: Early morning Darshan of Trimbakeshwar Temple. Then catch train from Nashik to Vijayawada.
  • Day 11: Reach Vijayawada. Take a bus from Vijayawada to Srisilam. Darshan at Mallikarjun Temple. Catch a train from Srisailam to Chennai.
  • Day 12: Reach Chennai Central and from there catch next train for an 12 hour journey to Rameshwaram. Overnight stay would be at Rameshwaram.
  • Day 13: Early morning Darshan at Rameshwaram temple. Sightseeing trip to ‘Ramar Paalam’. Catch train to Chennai by night.
  • Day 14: Reach Chennai Central by morning and catch an evening train to New Delhi.
  • Day 15: Travel.
  • Day 16: Reach New Delhi Railway Station.

The best time to take this Yatra is between June to October when there is no monsoon and the skies are dry. There are a number of travel agents and organizations that offer ’12 Jyothirlinga Yatra’ packages. The costs of this pilgrimage tour varies depending upon the number of people, mode of travel, accommodation, food and the choice of a private or a group tour. The Yatra, spanning 16 days would cost around Rs 18,000 inclusive of travel accommodation and food.
